Grant Information

 Grant Types

In addition to other charitable contributions, KADF awards three types of grants:

 

Bedrock Grants: for continued work of the organization, based on prior and demonstratable success or achievement

  • Grants are typically $5000- $25,000 for one year
  • Requires an online application [link to: KADF.org/apply] and electronic copies of supporting materials
  • Applications are evaluated quarterly, in February, May, August in November; applications should be received prior to the 5th day of the month for evaluation
  • Requires completion of an online grant reporting form, due 60 days after one year from grant award date

 

Magma Grants: for organizations to administer predoctoral, postdoctoral, and/or early-career fellowships to support the dynamism of a new generation of creative leaders in the arts and sciences, who will usher in new movement of social and/or environmental justice

  • Grants are typically $100,000 for one year
  • Requires a Letter of Intent, and after approval from KADF, an interview and a full, written proposal
  • Evaluated on a rolling-basis
  • Requires completion of an online grant reporting form, due 60 days after one year from grant award date
  • Recipients of KADF Fellowships will belong to the Magma Coalition, a peer-supported group for networking, mentorship, and career training

 

Tectonic Grants: for organizations to spearhead new, bold, and/or transformative plans for systemic change,

  • Grants are often >$250,000, by invitation only
  • Requires a Letter of Intent, and after approval from KADF, an interview and a full, written proposal
  • Evaluated on a rolling-basis
  • Requires completion of an online grant reporting form, due 60 days after one year from grant award date
